Dear Students,
The University’s top priority is to ensure that students are provided with a fantastic learning experience while assuring their health and wellbeing during this challenging time as the whole world is fighting COVID 19. It is therefore of crucial importance to have a formal body at the University with all the appropriate stakeholders to tackle any issues related to the Covid-19 pandemic. Thus, the committee has in its membership all the members of the University Council, so that it can take any major decision, in addition to all the other academic or administrative positions that play a key role in the University’s efforts against Covid-19, such as the Director of Administration and Finance, the Health and Safety Supervisor, the Nurse, the Director of the Library, the Director of the ICT & KM, the Director of Marketing & PR amongst many others. By creating this committee, we also ensure full compliance with the recent regulations issued by the Ministry of Education with regard to the precautionary measures that educational institutions must take to prevent the spread of the new Coronavirus. Indeed, the very first article in these regulations stipulates that the University must create a committee chaired by the University’s President to deal with all the issues related to Covid-19, and I personally believe this is the right approach, in order to have a focal point and a central task force to lead the University’s efforts in this regard.
Wishing you a very successful academic year and please stay safe
