ORIENTATION DAY
On 4 February 2018, the Deanship of Student Affairs organized an Orientation Day for new students who had enrolled in the Second Semester of academic year 2017/2018. The event was divided into two parts, starting in Abdulla Nass Hall.
Professor Ghassan Aouad, the University President, gave an Introduction to the University and talked about the organizational chart, our Vision and Mission, HEC Accreditation. This was followed by Dr Assem Al-Hajj, the Vice President for Academic Affairs & Development, who introduced the colleges, their organizational chart and the ASU programmes. Dr Faiza Zitouni, the Dean of Student Affairs introduced the members of the Deanship and the Student Council, and spoke about the student support services offered by the Deanship and the student clubs available, highlighting that students are the center of all ASU’s activities. Dr Isa Alkhayyat, the Dean of Admissions & Registration explained about admissions and registration procedures, academic advising, forms and the bylaws that the students should be aware of. Mr Noushad Adulhameed, the Head of Health & Safety talked about the important health and safety procedures, emergency contacts. This was followed by a Question and Answer session.
The second part of the Orientation Day consisted of a tour conducted by the Student Council members, where the new students were divided into groups by their colleges. The Student Council members took the students around the University showing them the facilities available and the deans of each college gave the students a brief about their study journey at ASU.
