Interior Design Students Visit the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage
The students of Interior Design Department visited the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage as part of their projects on the rehabilitation of historical buildings. They attended an exhibition on the heritage of architectural innovations in the Arab world.
The students listened to a synopsis on the heritage of modern architecture in the Arab world in the 20th century, which included a series of urban examples in all Arab countries.
Students had a wonderful discussion with Dr. Anas Soufan, a world heritage expert who had presented a lecture on Damascus entitled “The Architectural Environment of Damascus: Westernization, Originality and Modernity,” about the state of urban changes in Damascus, a vibrant city that dates back thousands of years, talking about its origins, characteristics, industry and characters.
The exhibition was organised by the World Heritage Centre of UNESCO, the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature in Kuwait, and the Arab Centre for Architecture in Lebanon, in order to raise awareness of the importance of modern heritage as a guide to the development of humanity as reflected in modern architecture.
