Professor Ghassan Aouad makes a presentation about the importance of Scientific Research
Professor Ghassan Aouad, President of Applied Science University, and in the presence of Professor Waheeb Alkhaja, Founding President and Executive President of the Board of Directors, delivered a lecture on “The Art and Science of doing Research” to an audience of more than 100 academic and administrative staff from the university and selected guests from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Council in Bahrain (HEC) and a colleague from BIPA.
In his presentation, Professor Aouad emphasized the importance of scientific research and how we can align the University’s strategy with the HEC’s recently developed higher education and research strategies. He then presented some work based on the competitiveness reports of the World Economic Forum and how Bahrain is positioned amongst the Gulf States. He then proceeded to present his work on research key performance indicators giving strong tips and hints on how to increase chances of producing strong publications and research bids and how to develop and support doctorate programs.
Professor Aouad concluded by saying that doing research is in part art and in part science and that research is vital for the long term sustainability of any university or nation. Following the presentation, our colleagues from the Ministry of Education, HEC and BIPA re-emphasized the importance of working together to support research and innovation for the benefits of our sector and Bahrain as a whole.
