ASU won the Smart Gov Shield Award for the mobile telephone applications/ high education sector of the Arab Governments in its sixth session held in Kuwait under the patronage of the minster of state for the prime minister affair, the chairman of the board of directors of the central organization for information and communication technology Shaikh Mohamed Abdulla Mubarak Sabah.

The president of the university Professor Ghassan Awad, the director of information and communication technology Dr. Mussab Asawd and the head of the technical support unit Rifaat Othman received the memorial shield and the certificate of excellence in smart applications.

The university won this award because it gives attention to this mechanism and in line with the big development witnessed by the
world in this regard to go along with the goals and achievements in Bahrain and the Arab world and the success of the governments to ease the life of the  citizens and shorten distances and promote transparency by creating the smart applications
in the service of the public

The president of the university confirmed that technology is rooted in the daily life of the Arab people. He explained that the modern ideas in the services field have multiplied and its definitions have varied in reference to electronic, digital and smart services. It all seeks to increase productivity, improve and modernize the procedures followed to serve students and reach high rate in development.

It is worth mentioning that those who participated in the competition are from Bahrain, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and Morocco.

This competition is organized based on the Arab achievements and the success of the governments to ease the life of the people, shorten the spaces and promote transparency by creating smart applications for the people.

The Arab governments and the winning official institutions were honoured. On the sidelines of the ceremony many workshops were held in which the practices of the smart applications were presented and the winners explained the methods of their success to the participants.
